Safeguarding Policy
1. Policy Statement
Business Pros is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all employees, clients, contractors, visitors, apprentices, volunteers, and members of the public. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard children, young people, and adults at risk from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm.
We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and are committed to promoting the welfare and wellbeing of everyone who engages with our organisation.
2. Purpose
This policy aims to:

3. Scope

4. Definitions
Child: Any person under the age of 18.
Adult at Risk: An individual aged 18 or over who has care and support needs and may be unable to protect themselves from abuse or neglect.
5. Types of Abuse
Business Pros recognises the following forms of abuse:

6. Responsibilities
Directors
The Directors are responsible for:

Promoting a safeguarding culture.

Ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place.

Reviewing safeguarding arrangements annually.
Managers
Managers will:

Ensure staff understand this policy.
-
Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns.

Maintain confidentiality where appropriate.
-
Escalate concerns to relevant authorities when necessary.
Employees
Every employee must:

Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
-
Remain alert to safeguarding concerns.

Report concerns immediately.
-
Cooperate with safeguarding investigations.
7. Reporting Concerns
If an employee believes that a child or adult at risk may be suffering abuse or neglect, they must:

Ensure there is no immediate danger.

Record factual information as soon as possible.
-
Report concerns immediately to their line manager or the designated safeguarding lead.

Where there is immediate risk of serious harm, contact the emergency services by calling 999.

Follow any instructions provided by safeguarding authorities.
Employees should never investigate allegations themselves.
8. Confidentiality
Information relating to safeguarding concerns will only be shared on a need-to-know basis and in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
9. Recruitment
Where appropriate to the role, Business Pros will:

Obtain references.

Carry out identity verification.
-
Conduct Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where legally required or appropriate.

Provide safeguarding training during induction.
10. Training
Relevant employees will receive safeguarding awareness training appropriate to their responsibilities. Refresher training will be provided periodically.
11. Whistleblowing
Employees who raise genuine safeguarding concerns will be protected under the company’s Whistleblowing Policy. No individual will suffer detriment for reporting concerns made in good faith.
12. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if there are changes to legislation, guidance, or organisational practices.
